As for me, the day has been a total disaster. We had some people invited over our cottage, and I dislike their teen son to death. He even made us all listen to non-quality and d-class laiko singers just like Oikonomopoulos and some others that I am happy for having forgotten their names. I saved my ears though, using headphones, and listening to rock music. To make it worse, he even started saying hideous things and boasting about his achievements with some girls (We had the luck to see them on FB, and they were screeming "Hey! I have no class at all. Just f*ck me" Finally they are gone, and I have just fulfilled my desire to share my terrible day!

Good luck to you!! :D

Ιt's really annoying how many things we dont have here. How many things we miss! Some kids are really lucky, born in the States.

There so many things that i must do(study hard, pay enormous amounts for books and fees) that really make me angry. And of course, nothing is certain for your future.

In the end, i wonder,is it worth it?My instict tells me,it fucking does. So,i am gonna chase my dream. Thanks btw.

You are also preparing for post-grad studies in the us?

No I am studying in Australia at the moment. I have few years to start again with this procedure for post grad I mean.

I applied 2 years ago in US as undergraduated applicant. I got accepted but I didn't have enough financial aid to pay it. So, I know how it is.

Where you applying?

Australia,huh?Excellent choice.

I am currently studying med in Aristoteleion,so i am not interested in under-grad studies. As far as electives are concerned ,they last 4 weeks and with them, you get USCLE- meaning .US clinical experience. It is essential but not required to have ESCE if any one, like i do,is interested in doing a residency there.

Right now,i am gathering information, sending e-mails.Mainly,i ask each specific programme what are the hidden details. Its a tricky buisiness and quite expensive.I probably end up applying for electives at Cornell,Yale,Mount Sinai,NYC and Northwestern,Chicago.I need to determine what programme i want approximately 8-9 months before the final petition. So,i am bored sending e-mails all day long,in order to learn which one is the best.I feel also kinda dissapointed becuz there are limited choices and i am not allowed to give up on these kinds of opportunities in the following 2 -3 semesters. That means that i dont have any free time.:( Any way,i am hoping if i get a good Usmle score,i will get an internal medicine position at Yale /Cornell in a few years.:D My goal is to get a felllowship such as hematology next. But first things, first right?:P

Yes its an excellent choice on the grounds that I have direct admission to Harvard after my graduation, for my master degree. Yea it gives that option with the appropriate rquirements of course except TOEFL (If you know what it is).

oh god Yale!! <3 It is my dream school. <3 Hopefully next summer I am gonna be there for the Summer Session in Physics and Engineering (maybe)

Good luck with all that! It needs patience and hard work but believe me it deserves it :)

I wish you the best from my depth of my heart!

You,too.Keep up the good work and make us proud out there.;)

Agreed but It doesn't mean that he is not qualified enough.

I think that everyone with good or very good potentials should try. You never know actually.

Of course.

Ivy league? Difficult. village is possible. :/:

Yes,i know that..but ok.Internal medicine is rejected by most Americans,so the positions are covered with IMGs.

If you are talking about electives, yes,i would also like the Village becuz they don't see you as a butcher:P,in case you are an IMG.They are used to these kinds of visits by IMGs instead of ivy league.

What do you think of working teenagers? Have you ever worked to gain some extra money? Would you consider that as a good choice?

Let's debate people!! :P

Well to begin with, the law in our country dictates that only teenagers who are at least 16 years old can work! Cosidering that at this age most teenagers need to concentrate in studying for school I don't believe taking up a part time job would be the easiest thing in the world! However I personally find the idea appealing and I have to admit that had I more free time I would deffinitely look into the subject more!

Yeah... I guess you 're rather right, that's exactly how I feel, too.
Yet, adolescents who can't manage school and they only target just to finish it, find it a very good choice. I'm wondering, had we no private schools and litte homework, would we try it? :hmm:

I know I would for sure! I mean what would be so bad in being able to pay (well a minimum sum but it'd still be something) for yourself? Yes it'd be tiring but what can be achieved with no effort whatsoever?? Of course that's is easy to say now in a hypothetical situation but I sincerely believe I would if I wasn't so busy with homework and private schools...Unfortunately this is not how things work in Greece since teenagers are neither encouraged nor able to find a part time job!

I see your point.
Nevertheless, most of the part-time jobs are expoitating and low-paying...
Personally, I am not sure if I'd like that. This year I'm gonna have a lot of free time, my German and English classes are going to be completed and I don't intend on going to a private school for school subjects, yet. I can manage them by my own, so I am considering it...

Let me correct you:)

The law in our country allows teenagers who are at least 15 years of age and are graduates of Junior High School to work.

The private sector is a lot different that the public sector:P

I know, but aren't you supposed to pay some taxes for every income? How are you supposed to pay them if you're 15 ?
